As a social event, the Manx Model Flyers visited the 50th Beer & Cider Festival on Saturday 12th April at the Villa Marina. Mike Ward, our MMF Secretary and CAMRA Treasurer, guided us through what drinks were being offered, and the how the tokens worked; we bought our glass to be used throughout the day.
I certainly was very impressed with the calmness and organisation of the Festival: no manic drinking etc. People seemed to be really taking an interest with the drinks which could be sampled, and walking around to the various counters within the Villa Marina Hall.
Although a bit breezy at times the weather was warm enough for us to sit on the picnic benches in the Villa Gardens, drinking the beers and ciders and eating some of the food which was also being sold on the premises.
When we were leaving I noticed there were musicians starting to play and this sounded good. I would certainly recommend visiting the next Festival: good value for money and a good experience. Of particualr note were the complete selection of Manx beers, its surprising there are so many ales actually brewed on island!
